Would you like to feel more connected to your horse?
Profile
My passion (or rather, my obsession!) with horses has been part of me for as long as I can remember. Where that love came from, no one really knows — I grew up in a seaside town with a completely non-horsey family! Riding lessons were always a dream, but not something that was possible, no matter how much I begged.
Then, when I was eight years old, a miracle happened. One Christmas, I received a card from our landlady — inside, it said I could have a free riding lesson every Sunday for as long as I wanted. What a gift! I am totally aware of how much this one act of kindness changed my whole life trajectory.
From that moment on, I was completely hooked. Horses became my whole world. I’d ride any pony or horse on offer which usually were the ones that were a bit miss understood. I wanted to help people find that same connection. That’s when it clicked — to truly help horses, I needed to start with their humans. That is where my journey really began.
My life as a student of the horse has led me on quite a journey. Horses are incredible teachers, and I truly believe they bring a certain magic into our lives. I began on a traditional, conventional training path, gaining my BHS Complete Horsemanship (formerly BHS AI) qualification while studying for my BSc (Hons) in Equine Studies (with Applied Physical Therapy).
Studying academic equitation then led me to International Society for Equitation Science (ISES). Today I am still proud to be a member practitioner of the ISES. This means I use the first principles when developing training solutions, ensuring that the approach is always clear, ethical, evidence-based, and horse-centred.
I spent three years living and working in Canada, where I had the chance to explore western riding and compete in western dressage. This experience opened the door to the École de Légèreté. After Canada, I spent time living in Portugal, where my love for the Lusitano horse only grew stronger.
I am now back in the South East of the UK, currently working for a charity that supports young people from Brixton through horses. My present goals include gaining my Légèreté qualifications and completing the fieldwork required to become certified in Masterson Method bodyworker.
After twenty years of studying and working with horses, I still hold the same excitement and enthusiasm as my eight-year-old self who simply loved spending time with ponies! I would be honoured to share my knowledge with you and your horse, and to help the connection between you both grow.
